Unique lake Iskander Kul – is the pearl of Fann Mountains, a popular place for tourists from all over the world.
Marguzor lake looks like a jewel in the necklace of beauty.
The Great Silk Road passed through Tajikistan.
Istravshan city (formerly Ura-Tube) is mentioned in the oldest manuscripts of the world.
Alexander the Great visited the Nowruz spring festival in the city and was captivated by its beauty.
Tajikistan is a mountainous country, more than 93% of it is covered by mountains of the Pamir and Tien Shan.
Most of the country is located at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, the main feature of the relief – alternating ridges and valleys.

Pamir Highway tour

Itinerary
Day 1
Tashkent.
Arrival to Tashkent early in the morning. Meet at the airport and transfer to the hotel. After breakfast beginning of the city tour in Tashkent. Visit Khast-Imam Square, Barak-Khan madrassah, Kafal-al Shashi Mazar, Kukeldash madrassah, Chorsu Oriental bazaar, Applied arts museum, Independence Square. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2
Tashkent - Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border point “Oybek” - Khujand.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the border point “Oybek”. Border formalities. Transfer to the town of Khujand. Accommodation at the hotel. Visit the following monuments in Khujand: Museum of archeology and fortification and Oriental Bazaar - the biggest bazaar of Central Asia, which is called Payshanba bazaar. Overnight.
Day 3
Khujand - Dushanbe (morning air flight).
After breakfast air flight to Dushanbe. City tour about Dushanbe. Visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments and Museum of Antiquities, a wonderful of Buddhist art from the lost cities of Kushan empire, with great Buddha in Nirvana. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4
Khujand - Dushanbe (morning air flight).
After breakfast air flight to Dushanbe. City tour about Dushanbe. Visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments and Museum of Antiquities, a wonderful of Buddhist art from the lost cities of Kushan empire, with great Buddha in Nirvana. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5
Kalai-Khumb - Khorog.
The road will follow near Panj River, a tributary of the mighty Amu Darya. During this entire trip, we will see Afghanistan from right side across the river, where the big difference of lifestyle of Afghan and Tajik Pamirs is visible. Khorog is the administrative centre of the Pamir region, set deep in the valley at the confluence of the Panj and Ghunt rivers and boxed in by the mountain peaks. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6
Khorog - Ishkashim.
Not far from Khorog (45 km) there is famous Mineral Hot Spring - Garm Chashma and Ruby Mines of Khu i Lal (where Badakhshani rubies were mined as early as 14th century). Ishkashim is a small town at the mouth of the Wakhan corridor. Continue up the north side of the river with amazing views of the Pamirs to the left and the Hindu Kush to the right. If you arrive to Ishkashim on Saturday, you can see the Tajik-Afghan market, located on the Afghan side of the border. For visiting the market, you do not need an Afghan visa. Overnight at the guest house.
Day 7
Ishkashim - Langar.
On the way visit to one of old fortress on the Silk Road - Kah-Kaha in Namadgut, museum of Sufi Muborak-Kadami Vakhani, a local Sufi scholar, theologian, poet and traveller, who died in 1910. On the way we will visit Buddhist Stupa in Vrang, sacred hot springs of Bibi Fatima Zahra, ruins of Yamchun fortress (IV-III B.C.) that once guarded Pamir branch of the Great Silk Road. Homestay.
Day 8
Langar - Bulunkul Lake.
After breakfast we will leave the spectacular views of Afghanistan, with the ice-capped summit of the Wakhan Range, and the Pamir River, which marking the border and crossing Khargushi pass, you will come to Bulunkul and Yashil Kul Lakes, where we will stay in the small hamlet of Bulunkul. We will walk around the ruins of a caravanserai and solar calendar on the north side of Lake Yashil Kul. Homestay.
Day 9
Bulunkul Lake - Murghab.
On the way visit to old color paints in grot Shakhty and if the weather is clear enough, we will head up to the Shorbulak Observatory, from where you can see the Muztag Ata and Kongur Peaks, which are part of the Khun Lun Range (located in China). Murgab is a quiet town with an only bazaar of the High Pamir region where Kyrgyzs and Tajiks live. Visit to handicraft shop in “Yak House”. Homestay.
Day 10
Murghab - Karakul Lake.
The views of mountains and glaciers along the way today are simply breath-taking as the road takes us to the Ak Baital Pass (The White Horse Pass 4655m). This is the highest pass in the former USSR, real “The Roof of the World” and the hidden site in this expanse of arid landscape is the stunning Karakul Lake, created millions of years ago. Homestay.
Day 11
Karakul Lake - “Kyzyl-art” border point - Osh.
Drive via Kyzyl-Art and Taldyk Passes to Osh in Kyrgyzstan. There is a check-post on the Kyzyl-Art pass. Nine kilometers after passing the Tajik Checkpoint, we will get to Kyrgyz border crossing point, which is at the bottom of the pass. By the evening we will arrive to Osh. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 12
Osh - “Dustlik” border point - Margilan - Fergana.
Day 13
Fergana - Rishtan - Kokand - Tashkent.
Breakfast. Trasfer to Tashkent via Rishtan and Kokand - the small towns of Fergana Valley. Visit ceramic workshops in Rishtan; the palace of Khudayar Khan, the cemetery of Kokand Khans, the Mausoleum of Modari Khan in Kokand. Arrival to Tashkent. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.
Day 14
Tashkent. Departure. Transfer to the airport. Flight back home.
